Deficit Racing is a father-daughter race team that started in drag racing but now includes karting. The original plan was to race an Improved Touring car in SCCA. However, with the demise of Riverside Int'l Raceway, we had to rethink our plan. We already owned a factory Hemi-equipped 1966 Dodge Charger, so we decided to go Nostalgia Drag Racing in 1991. We ran the series for 4 years with reasonable success. At this time, the Dodge sees limited use at the drag strip. In 2002, Deana, at that time, age 12, expressed interest in driving. The natural course was to proceed in karts. The next year had Deana driving at Indoor Speedway developing her skills, and in mid 2003, she bought her own kart. We had a successful run in the TonyKart and Yamaha motor package. the next step was to the Sr. TaG class running a CRG chassis and Rotax motor. We ran this just short of a year when we hooked up with Mike Manning. We ran the next year with his chassis and Rotax with favorable results. During the 2006 season, we had an untimely motor failure, and went to a Parilla Leopard motor package. We finished 4th in the ultra-competitive ProKart Challenge. The beginning of the 2007 season has Deana, with the Leopard package, driving a Biesse chassis for Dave Armstrong. We have already lowered our times by 1/2 second at the local track. Things are looking good!! Please check out the photo gallery on the "About Us" page!
